Water Bugs
Overview
The term "water bug" is often used for large American cockroaches or Oriental cockroaches in the Northeast. Both species prefer damp, dark areas like sewers, basements, and crawl spaces.
Warning Signs
- Large (1-2 inch) roach-like insects in basement or bathroom
- Activity near drains, pipes, or sump pumps
- Musty odor in affected areas
Health & Property Risks
Like cockroaches, water bugs spread bacteria and can contaminate food and food-prep surfaces.
How We Treat It
We target harborage areas and entry points including drains, utility penetrations, and foundation cracks. Gel baits and residual applications are highly effective.
