Mosquitoes breed in any standing water and are active from late spring through fall in our region. The Asian tiger mosquito is increasingly common in Westchester and Bergen County.
Warning Signs
- Bites during the day (tiger mosquito) or dusk/dawn
- Standing water in gutters, plant saucers, or tarps
- High mosquito populations near wooded or wet areas
Health & Property Risks
Mosquitoes transmit West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, and Zika Virus. They significantly reduce enjoyment of outdoor spaces.
